These are the rules of conduct, discipline and respect that govern life at the dojo. Following them is mandatory for all students, and they are part of the documents accepted upon enrollment. Training here is a commitment to the Dojo, to the I.K.O. Matsushima organization and to yourself.
This is a courtesy translation. If there is any difference, the Spanish version prevails.
1. Respect and conduct
Bow and say osu when stepping on and off the tatami, and show respect to the Shomen, the Sensei, the senpais and your training partners.
Offensive language, mockery, uncontrolled violence and any attitude that disrespects a member of the dojo are not allowed.
Always follow the instructor's directions. Corrections are received with humility and answered with osu.
The techniques you learn are used only inside the dojo and for legitimate self-defense; never to attack anyone.
Kyokushin is not just a physical activity: it is a commitment to discipline, effort and respect on and off the tatami.
2. Punctuality and attendance
Classes start on time, as scheduled. Arrive on time and ready.
Students who arrive late wait at the edge of the tatami for the instructor's signal to join, and may be asked to do a conditioning exercise before joining the class.
Time lost by arriving late is not repeated or made up; it is part of the dojo's discipline.
3. Hygiene and uniform
The official uniform (gi) with the emblems of the dojo and of the I.K.O. Matsushima organization is mandatory for training. Its cost and delivery time are provided at the front desk upon enrollment.
Until the uniform is purchased, students may train in sportswear suitable for martial arts, to avoid injuries. A reasonable period is given to buy it.
The gi must be kept clean and complete. Nails short and clean. No jewelry, watches or objects that could cause injuries.
Training is barefoot on the tatami, unless there is a medical reason.
4. Personal training gear
Each student must have their own protective gear: boxing gloves, MMA gloves, shin guards (karate or MMA), mouthguard, a sports top or chest protector for women, and a groin protector (cup) for men.
For hygiene reasons, protective gear may not be shared between students.
Protective gear is essential and mandatory for all events, friendly bouts and competitions.
5. Monthly fees and payments
The first monthly fee is paid together with enrollment.
The monthly fee is paid from the 1st to the 5th of each month, by bank transfer (Banco General · Savings account · 04-05-00-004378-4 · Kaizen Sport Group) or by Yappy: Kaizen Sport Group (@kaizensportgroup). Payment must always be made in full.
Without a current payment, students cannot enter class: the system automatically suspends access from the 6th until the payment is settled. A late fee may apply according to the dojo's policy.
Anyone who decides not to continue with classes must pay the current month in full.
To take grading exams, students must be up to date with their monthly fees.
6. Enrollment and requirements
To enroll, each person must present the required documents: a certificate of good health and a copy of the ID card or passport that identifies them.
Minors must be accompanied by a family member or guardian at the time of enrollment, for safety reasons.
Use of the dojo for training is available to those who are up to date with their monthly fee.
7. Grade promotions
Grade promotions (belt exams) are held according to the dojo's calendar. The exam fee depends on the grade and is shown in the current price list.
The exam fee must be paid as far in advance as the instructor indicates. Anyone who does not pay in time will take part on the next scheduled date.
To take an exam, students must be up to date with their monthly fees and meet the required attendance and preparation.
The dojo's grade scale is: White · White-Orange · Orange · Orange-Blue · Blue · Blue-Yellow · Yellow · Yellow-Green · Green · Green-Brown · Brown · and Black Belt (Shodan and the following Dan grades).
8. Use of facilities and equipment
Take care of the tatami, bags, training weapons, equipment and furniture. Any intentional damage is the student's responsibility, and the student must cover the cost of repair or replacement.
After each activity, students must put the equipment they used back in its place.
Handling the sound system or other equipment without authorization is not allowed; it is managed by the administration.
When changing clothes, students leave their belongings in the designated area. Personal valuables (phones, watches, wallets) are the responsibility of their owners; the Dojo is not liable for losses.
Do not bring sharp objects or clothing that could cause harm during training.
9. Minors
Minors must be dropped off and picked up by the people named in the Minor Authorization form.
Guardians wait in the designated area during class.
10. Competitions and tournaments
Students selected for a tournament must meet the requirements and rules of the competition, at the time and date agreed with the Sensei.
If a student agrees to take part and something later prevents them from continuing, they must give notice as early as possible (ideally three months before the activity).
Expenses for activities between academies (meets, friendly bouts and competitions) are covered by the student or their guardians.
11. Infractions and sanctions
The Dojo is an environment of health, well-being, responsibility and respect. Any behavior that undermines that environment is prohibited.
Breaking these rules may lead to a warning, a temporary suspension or, in serious cases, cancellation of the membership, at the discretion of the Dojo's administration.
Anyone who does not comply with the rules and obligations set out here has no grounds to complain if they are denied an activity.
