Kyokushin Karate is one of the most demanding and widely recognized karate styles in the world. Founded by Sosai Masutatsu Oyama, it stands out for an idea that changed everything: to know true strength, you have to truly put it to the test. That is why its trademark is full contact: real fighting, without faking the impact. Hence its reputation as “the strongest karate in the world”.

Full contact: karate with no half measures

Unlike “point” or semi-contact karate styles, in Kyokushin strikes to the body are delivered with real power and without torso protection. Kumite (sparring) is direct, honest and physical: it is not simulated, it is done. The aim is not violence but truth: facing real impact is what reveals a person's character and forges a spirit that is hard to break.

That authenticity is also what separates Kyokushin from its imitations. Here we do not promise what we do not train, and we do not teach a watered-down version of the art.

“The ultimate truth”: the meaning of Kyokushin

The word Kyokushin (極真) translates as “the ultimate truth” or “the supreme reality”. It is not a decorative name: it sums up an entire philosophy. A karateka's goal is not to collect trophies, but to seek the truth about themselves through honest, demanding training.

Kyokushin does not set out to create tournament winners, but people who are stronger than they were yesterday.

Body, technique and spirit: the three pillars

Kyokushin training rests on three areas that progress together:

Add to this a strong focus on physical conditioning and, at advanced levels, tameshiwari (breaking boards and other materials), which demonstrates control of technique and power.

More than fighting: forging character

People who look at Kyokushin from the outside only see the fighting. People who train it discover the opposite: it is a school of character. Everything begins and ends with respect: for the teacher, for your training partner, for the dojo. The word “Osu”, the Dojo Kun (the dojo oath) and traditional etiquette are not decorations: they are the heart of the art. Kyokushin is budo, a path to develop the whole person.

That is why it works so well for kids, teens and adults: it builds discipline, humility, confidence and perseverance, qualities that serve you far beyond the tatami.

An art that conquered the world

From Mas Oyama's first dojo in Tokyo, Kyokushin grew into one of the most practiced karate styles on the planet, with millions of karateka on five continents. Today its legacy is preserved by international organizations devoted to keeping the founder's method alive.

Our dojo belongs to I.K.O. Matsushima International Karate Organization Kyokushinkaikan, and it descends in a direct line from Mas Oyama through Shihan Jorge Bustos. Here we do not teach a version of Kyokushin: we teach authentic Kyokushin, backed by the international organization.
